The Grand Golliat is really five separate summits. The mountain, at the very end of the Val Ferret is the most southerly part of the Valais. The name « Golliat » doesn’t refer to the biblical giant, Goliath, but means a collection of « gouilles » or small lakes. These are on the Italian side of the mountain.
