Tourist development

Orsières lies on the road to the Great Saint Bernard : an international route. It abuts the Mont Blanc massif. The Commune has three tourist zones : Orsières, La Fouly / Val Ferret and Champex-Lac.

In 1998, the Commune of Orsières affirmed its vocation as a tourist commune. This status allows the Commune to levy a tourism tax on those who profit from the local tourist industry.
